Relieving Chiropractic Care Relief of Easley Leg Pain Right or Left

June 02, 2020

Left leg. Right leg. Sciatic leg pain will affect either leg (and sometimes both). Easley chiropractic care at Young Chiropractic helps decrease leg pain and focuses on the spinal cause of the sciatica at the same time. Young Chiropractic leads Easley leg pain and back pain patients to pain relief with chiropractic care.

SCIATIC LEG PAIN: Right Leg or Left Leg

You have heard of right-handed people and left-handed people, right? Of course, you have! Did you know that the right leg grows longer in left-handed people and the left leg grows longer in right-handed people? Not all the time, but research has it documented in pretty high percentages. Bearing this in mind, it is not surprising that there are more people with longer left legs (53%) than right legs (39%). Incredibly, just 8% of people have equal leg lengths. (1) What role does that play in which leg will have radiculopathy? Discs will bulge into the concavity of the curve due to a variety of issues like uneven stresses on the disc’s anulus. The concavity of the spinal curve is on the long leg side. A right-handed person with a long left leg will likely have left leg pain. Another interesting point: hip pain often arises on the long leg side, too: 88.9% long leg vs 11.1% short leg. Sciatica is the same: 78.5% arises on the long leg side versus 21.5% on the short leg side. (2,3) Your Easley chiropractor can see a short leg pretty easily by examining 3 things: iliac crest, the verticality of the spine, and levelness of the posterosuperior iliac spine dimples. Researchers wrote that there is a solid relationship between visual and xray measurements. (4) Trust your Easley chiropractor to see a short leg…and take care of any related disc herniation sources of pain!

DISC HERNIATION RE-ABSORPTION WITH NON-SURGICAL CARE

A new study studied 75 cases of ruptured lumbar disc herniation. Forty-six of the 75 cases experienced leg pain radiculopathy: 46 cases on the left and 29 on the right. (Makes sense now, right?) At 5 years follow-up after non-surgical treatment, a “reabsorption” phenomenon was noted. The excellent and good rate of disc reabsorption was 73.24%. (5) Young Chiropractic provides pain easing non-surgical care of Easley leg pain and back pain.

RELIEF FOR Easley LEG PAIN and BACK PAIN

And then recall the new paper about the benefits of chiropractic maintenance care: Maintenance care decreases the number of days of pain for acute back pain episodes and raises the length of pain-free times between back pain episodes in patients with recurrent and persistent back pain. (6) Young Chiropractic is ready for those back pain and leg pain patients wanting fewer days with back and leg pain and those who would like to live life with fewer periods of leg and back pain.
