August 2021 Healthy News from Young Chiropractic
Young Chiropractic welcomes all spine pain patients! We know the frustration that comes with spine pain. Easley chiropractic spinal manipulation helps. Though low back pain is a major source of disability globally, its sufferers who experience persistent or recurrent bouts of low back pain realize that chiropractic maintenance care is effective as it is patient-centered care. (1) Neck pain sufferers, too, report benefit with chiropractic. Neck pain patients who undergo spinal manipulation – 90% of which is delivered by chiropractors in the US – had lowered risk by 2.38 times to need escalated and costly care like imaging, injection, emergency room or surgery (just 26%) than patients who were treated with other kinds of care (46%). (2) A recent study of Medicare patient claims reveals that patients who had decreased access to chiropractic care had an increase in visits (32.3 a year) to primary care physicians for spine pain and a rise in spine surgeries (5.5 a year) costing an extra $114,967 per 1000 Medicare beneficiaries and $391 million nationally. (3) Your Easley chiropractor is well-skilled in delivering spinal manipulation. Spinal manipulation is and has been advised as first-line treatment for low back pain. Reviews of Medicare claims point out that chiropractors are the majority of healthcare providers for spinal manipulation and that the general supply of spinal manipulation providers is falling. (4) Do not worry! Your hometown, Easley chiropractor does not intend to stop providing pain-relieving spinal manipulation, particularly the gentle, research-backed Cox® Technic style of spinal manipulation.
Listen to this PODCAST with Dr. Kurt Olding on The Back Doctors Podcast with Dr. Michael Johnson as he presents research on the place of spinal manipulation in the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management for the relief of spinal stenosis, a common spine pain condition in the over-65 age group.
Beneficial B Vitamins
B vitamins are beneficial. B12 deficiency is often linked with dementia in patients over 65 years of age. It has also been found in younger people who have normal B12 levels but have a high methylmalonic acid (MMA) level. Checking the MMA level may be considered in patients with symptoms that seem unrelated as in one patient with neuropathy, depression and stomach issues who was found to have a high MMA. (5) Biotin (B7) supplementation is demonstrating potential in the treatment of neuropathic pain and could reduce the necessary doses of analgesic drugs. (6) Riboflavin (B2) in foods and via supplements is renowned for its antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory effects among others. A new study found that B2 to be anti-itch. (7) How are your B levels? Let’s talk at your next visit!
