Easley Back Pain Care and Bone Health Supported by B vitamins

October 26, 2021

B vitamins. There are many B vitamins. Some are rising stars in the Easley bone health and even Easley back pain relief areas. Aging, osteoporosis, back pain, and related fractures are a handful of the causes. Young Chiropractic presents recent research behind the testing of B vitamin levels and addressing any reduced levels with diet and supplementation as appropriate.

AGING, OSTEOPOROSIS, FRACTURE, VITAMIN B

We are aging. We are not alone in this. Globally, aging is growing. Along with aging comes the growth of osteoporotic fracture incidence and morbidity, mortality, and cost related to those fractures. It’s quite a vicious circle! Preventing osteoporosis and enhancing the health of bone is a fair goal when considering aging. Dietary modification has been shown valuable as has the supplementation of B vitamins. Recent researchers wrote that support keeps expanding for the possible protective role of B vitamins particularly B2, B6, folate (B9), and B12 for bone health. Research suggested that eating vitamin B enriched foods is one way to go to contain any unwanted effects of high-dose B vitamin supplementation. (1) It’s important to get the right combination of B vitamins to do the best for bone health. Young Chiropractic will collaborate with you to discover what is best for you and your bones.

BONE, BMD, HIP FRACTURE, VITAMIN B

For a long time, Young Chiropractic has studied the suggestions of Vitamin B for bone health, and the newest review article of 29 studies supports testing and supplementation of B vitamins. 14 studies stated that blood tests revealing low serum levels of folate (vitamin B9) are indicators of risk for decreased bone mineral density (BMD) and fractures in older people, particularly women.  Taking folate vitamin B9 (500mcg-5mg a day) improved BMD in another study. Taking B6 reduced the risk of hip fracture. These findings prompted the researchers to propose that checking folate and homocysteine blood levels in elderly patients with osteopenia/osteoporosis is crucial. They even go so far as to state it is mandatory. (2) Vitamin B is imperative for Easley bone health!

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY BENEFIT OF VITAMIN B

B vitamins may well be a link in controlling inflammatory chemicals through homocysteine control, methylation, lowering CRP, etc. The roles of B vitamins – thiamine, pyridoxine, and cyanocobalamin – in back pain and other musculoskeletal disorders tend toward being anti-inflammatory, anti-nociceptive, neuroprotective, and neuromodulatory. (3) Big words. Big concepts. Big deals. Young Chiropractic offers that these effects are helpful in dealing with back pain, musculoskeletal pain, and issues affecting bone and spine health via nutrition.
