Young Chiropractic Helps Back Pain Patients Manage Their Back Pain

June 23, 2021

Chiropractic’s goal is to provide the back pain patient a sense of control over the back pain and to live through the pain and not avoid life. That is also the goal of your Easley chiropractor: gentle, pain-relieving, conservative care of spine pain. It is a partnership involving the Easley back pain sufferer, the back pain care giver, and even the back pain payer (ie Medicare).

CHIROPRACTIC ENTHUSIASM FOR THE ROLE OF BACK PAIN PROVIDER

Being a chiropractor is amazing! A new survey found that chiropractors like yours at Young Chiropractic relish their profession most as they are able to decrease pain and increase strength, flexibility, and power with their patients through an inclusive treatment plan. Two of the top features of being a chiropractor were marked as “being trained to diagnose”the foundation for quality care and wanted clinical outcomes! -  and “being able to transform peoples’ quality of life.” (1) Your Easley chiropractor concurs! Being your healthcare partner - your back pain specialist - especially in managing spine pain issues is a big part of daily practice.

EFFECT OF HEALTHCARE PROVIDER AVAILABILITY: MD/Surgeon, DC, PCP

Researchers questioned how a community’s healthcare workforce impacted the care of low back pain sufferers. They found that one new spine surgeon added to the number of non-conservative care episodes by 31.3 per 1000 older adults, the addition of one primary care physician decreased 2.5 conservative care episodes per 1000 elder adults, and the addition of one chiropractor increased 18.7 conservative care episodes and subtracted 3.6 non-conservative care episodes per 1000 elder adults. The researchers acknowledge certain limitations in their study as they extracted a certain set of patients from the 16 million Medicare Part B enrollees (who had at least one occurrence of low back pain and relocation) which resulted in 402,372 persons in the analysis set. (2) In the Medicare population, healthcare provider availability influences how much is spent on each beneficiary. The effect is altered by provider type and whether the provider availability rises or falls. Spine surgeon availability was most strongly associated with increased spending. The loss of one spine surgeon in a community reduced spending. (3) In Easley, back pain sufferers get a partner at Young Chiropractic who can guide them with in-office care as well as at-home self-care.

EFFECT OF BACK PAIN PATIENT SELF CARE

Medicine is realizing that the one who is really at the core of managing pain and chronic disorders is the person suffering with pain and chronic disorder. When back pain is the chronic issue, the low back pain patient self-manages most of the time anyway and needs suggestions regarding how best to do that: when to request more care (symptoms, imaging, advice), how to manage pain (behavioral changes to contain and prevent pain), and how to be assured of their independent pain management’s effectiveness. These all take guidance from clinicians regarding education about the condition and the collaboration of the patient and the healthcare provider. (4) Easley back pain sufferers and their healthcare providers like your chiropractor at Young Chiropractic need to communicate how each sees back pain management to most advantageously help the patient!
