Vertigo Treatment at Young Chiropractic Easley, SC
Vertigo often originates with vestibular Neuronitis, although the exact cause remains a mystery. It is theorized that if one of the cranial nerves – particularly the one dealing with balance – is irritated, vertigo can be the end result. Vestibular Neuronitis is known for:
- Symptoms lasting for about 10 days
- Nausea and/or vomiting
- Severe episodes of vertigo
- Nystagmus – jerking movement in the eye
While hearing remains unaffected, the symptoms are increasingly debilitating. Recommended care often includes vestibular rehabilitation and medication management. Many find themselves wondering if there is a natural, drug-free alternative that really works.
Finding the Source of Vertigo
The spine has the responsibility of protecting the delicate spinal cord that carries signals to and from the brain and body. If the top bone of the neck – called the atlas or C1 vertebra – becomes misaligned, undue pressure may be exerted upon the brainstem. This distorts the signals being sent to and from the brain and may cause vertigo symptoms.
Here at The Balanced Atlas, we use a gentle method to help realign the bones of the neck in a natural, yet effective, way. We do not crack or force the spine back into alignment. By readjusting the atlas, pressure on the brainstem is brought back to normal. This allows the body to function at its optimum and signals to be delivered in the proper manner. But, the question remains: Does it work?
A 23-year-old female was experiencing vertigo symptoms 5 months after she had endured a concussion. She was given an adjustment by an upper cervical chiropractor to help realign her atlas. She noted that after this, her vertigo was gone. She continued to receive care for two months following the initial adjustment and reported that her vertigo was completely resolved. We hope to provide similar results for patients at our San Francisco practice.
